CERIS Annual event on research for fighting crime and terrorism
CERIS Annual event on research for fighting crime and terrorism: An exploration into cross-cutting issues: 1) online harms and 2) involvement of practitioners in security research
DG HOME is organising a two-day annual event for CERIS, the European Community for European Research and Innovation in Security. This event is designed to foster discussions and exchanges among security research professionals, policymakers, researchers, civil society, and industry on key topics that broadly impact research and innovation in the security field.
The first day focuses on online harms, covering the current landscape and exploring emerging technologies and strategies. It will also include discussions on the implications of the AI Act for combating online crimes.
On the second day, the event will address challenges faced by security practitioners—including police, NGOs/CSOs, and forensic institutes—when participating in research consortia, highlighting both good and bad practices.
The event aims to promote the sharing of experiences and research outcomes, identify achievements and potential synergies, and strengthen European-level collaboration.
The following IMPROVE partners will be present:
José L. Diego, PLV, Head of Innovation and Project Management Divison, will moderate “Panel 1: Involvement of police authorities” within the CERIS Annual event on research for FCT (25th of September).
