The Ministry of Interior in France

The French Ministry of the Interior brings together the two state police forces, the national police (150,000 officers mainly deployed in cities with more than 20,000 inhabitants) and the national gendarmerie (100,000 military officers deployed in small towns and the countryside). The national police and the national gendarmerie are jointly responsible for missions dedicated to prevention, maintenance of order, public order, and crisis management.
