Introduction and evaluation of a clinical compulsory elective course on domestic violence (2022)

Research related to IMPROVE

This paper presents the introduction and evaluation of a clinical elective course on domestic violence (DV) designed to enhance medical students' knowledge and skills. Developed using the IMPRODOVA training platform, the course was piloted at the University of Muenster in 2020. Pre- and post-course surveys with 54 students from the universities of Muenster and Luebeck revealed significant initial knowledge gaps about DV, which were substantially reduced post-course. The results highlight the importance of integrating specialized DV training into medical curricula to better equip future healthcare professionals in identifying and supporting DV victims, thus improving patient care and outcomes.
